The Bleeding Hearts Band

"The Pros and Cons of HitchHiking" began as a concept in 1978, and was finally realized in 1984, as Roger Waters first solo album.

Pros and Cons is a fascinating story of relationships and sexual angst. The lyrics are fantastic as usual, if abundant. Without Pink Floyd, Roger, gathered and honed a band of some of the greatest studio musicians with whom he had become acquainted over the years. The album concept, story and the concerts and tours which followed were extremely complex and detailed. Much of these details and trivia are covered elsewhere.

Roger also utilized his relationships with some of the main people responsible for much of the creation and success of "The Wall".
Mark Fisher and Jonathan Park, who designed the stage show for "The Wall" were also hired to do the stage design for the Pros and Cons tour. And Gerald Scarfe, who created the graphics, animations, and designs for "The Wall" album, movie, and tour, would also design the graphics and animation for The Pros and Cons of HitchHiking album, and stage shows.

This is the Bleeding Hearts Band, as Gerald Scarfe sees it.

These are the caricatures he drew of all the band members. From the caricature of Rog, the character of Reg was spawned. It was Reg who became the main character of the story for the Pros and Cons of HitchHiking album and tour.
